Abstract:

The Wise collection is a compilation of personal family history research compiled by Louise Wise. It is well organized by surname. Most files contain family group sheets, research notes, and related correspondence. A few files contain family memorabilia and photos. The most common surnames are Frazee, Howe, Sharp, Sylvester, Thomas, Vahl, and Wise. Many of the ancestors emigrated from England, Sweden, and Germany and settled in New York, Ohio, and Iowa. Later generations moved to Oregon and California. In addition to this manuscript collection, the GFO library holds a copy of a family history book compiled by Louise and her husband Loren: Wise-Howe from New York to Oregon, 200 Years of Family History.
