Also includes copies of a diary labeled Property of Dewey Covert, newspaper clippings, and copies of pages from the Harris family Bible. The collection focuses on Coulter, Covert, Ten Eyck, Horton, Peters, Harris, and Martin surnames.
Of particular interest in this collection are the personal recollections. Mrs. Peter’s mother relates the story of her grandfather’s unfortunate move to Missouri and his hasty return to Wisconsin just prior to the Civil War (file 15 et al). Another is an autobiography of Henry Peters (Piotrowski) that recounts his life in Chicago in the early 1900s (file 10). There are pages copied from the diary of Mrs. Dewey Covert written in 1924 during her first year of marriage (file 6). Other stories are included in correspondence or copied from local and family history books.
