Myers Collection 2015-02

Summary

Title: Myers Collection

Accession Number: 2015-02

Creators: Dr. John A. Myers (1924-2002) and Marilyn Joan (Nelson) Myers (1929-2012)

Extent: 15 files (1159 pages)

Language: English (some records in Swedish)

Abstract:

The family history papers of John and Marilyn Myers are the product of many years of research into both family lines. The material was primarily bound into albums suitable for presentation to family members and other researchers. Though sources are often noted, they were not routinely included in the albums. However, the collection contains some correspondence with family members, other researchers, and repositories in the United States and Sweden. There are a few church records as well as birth, marriage, and death notices. Each album focuses on related families and includes family group records and occasional pedigree charts. Of particular interest are the many photographs of family members covering several generations. The most common surnames are Myers, Nelson, Rosen, Anderson, and Seger. The most common locations are Sweden, Iowa, Kansas, and Oregon.

So, thank all of you [in ORForum] again for your willingness to be there and to offer your help [find the final resting place of my ancestor]! We have a great group of people at GFO!

  • [The 'Access to GFO Resources from Home with Laurel Smith' class] is a great introduction to the resources offered by GFO. I highly recommend this introduction to all new members - it is a great overview.
