Over the years the GFO has received through donations many death certificates collected by members, for either their personal research or large projects. The certificates are mostly from Oregon, with a few from California, the District of Columbia, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, New York, Ohio, Texas, Washington, West Virginia, and Wyoming. There is a total of 13,157 certificates.
For each certificate, the person’s name and year of death was indexed. Children under 18 have the given names of the parents listed when noted. A woman who was married, divorced, or widowed has the father’s surname included at the end of the “Given Name” column when noted. The age was given in three instances; 1) there were initials for a given name; 2) there was only a single given name; 3) persons of Chinese or Japanese nationality (the last name listed on the name line was used as the surname).
GFO members may request a copy in GFO MemberSpace > Lookup Request
Non-members may order digital images for $7 per certificate. When there are attachments indicated, those are included. Please place orders by completing this form.
