The Oregonian, 21 Feb 1918, page 11
The Oddfellows’ lodge of this city has a service flag with four stars for members of their order who are with the colors, namely:
- Dr. F. C. Watson, with the dental corps of the British army, now stationed at Victoria, B. C.
- Glen W. Porter, son of H. C. Porter, now with Company B, 18 Engineers (railway), “somewhere in France”
- William Sestak, son of Joe Sestak, of this city, who is also “over there”
- Gus C. Eksman, who is at one of the cantonments in Virginia
Knowing how well the soldier boys like sweets, the Rebekah lodge has been remembering the boys with generous boxes of candy.
