Abstract:

The Mosher Collection is a compilation of personal family history research by Merrill Hill Mosher. The papers include correspondence with family members, other researchers, and archives throughout the United States. Some of the files include the research notes and correspondence of her mother, Grace (Faulkner) Hill. There are copies or transcripts of birth, marriage, death, Bible, probate, and land records. There are pedigree charts, descendant and ancestor reports, and family group sheets to aid researchers. Many of the surnames have research reports that grew into published articles and books, many available at the GFO library. Of special interest is the correspondence that followed these publications, often adding information to what was published. The most common surnames are Kirk, Faulkner, Freeman, Grant, and Rickenbaugh. The most frequent locations are North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Georgia.
