Abstract:
The Lionberger Collection contains the compiled research of Elaine Lionberger. Her research spans several decades and contains a wealth of correspondence with family members, distant cousins, and repositories across the United States and parts of Europe. Most of the files focus on a single surname and the related families. In addition to the correspondence, there are ancestor charts, descendant charts, and family group sheets that help the researcher understand the relationships between the families. There are a few files with family photos. The primary surnames are Archerd, Hooton, Hovey, Lionberger, Stapleton, and Witcraft. Several lines are traced back to England and Switzerland. Most families followed the typical migration patterns, spending time in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Kansas, Washington, and Oregon.
