Researching in Poland Using Partition-Specific Resources
The Seminar will begin with an introduction discussing the history of the partitions of Poland, including the years they existed and the geographical regions they covered. Each of the three partitions (Prussian, Austrian, and Russian) will then be discussed individually. Learn how to identify from which partition an ancestor immigrated, and how to conduct research in the records of each partition. Find out about the many resources available, and what to expect in terms of available documents and the languages they will be recorded in. At the conclusion of each section, there will be an opportunity to discuss any questions. The seminar will conclude with a summary of the different resources discussed, and a general question and answer session covering all partitions.
