Session 1 - You Use WHAT for Your Genealogy?
We’ll review a group of familiar apps and websites that are being used in creative ways by the genealogy community. You’ll also learn how to think “outside the margins” and start repurposing other apps and sites for your genealogy research.
Session 2 – Google Tools for Genealogists
As genealogists, many of us know the value of using every possible record set and resource during research. We call it a “reasonably exhaustive search.” It is a main element of the Genealogical Proof Standard as put forth by the Board for Certification of Genealogists © . But are we taking that same approach and care when it comes to using Google? More than just a search engine, there are many tools at Google that can help you work smarter when it comes to your family history research.
Session 3 – Genealogy Tech with Thomas
Having trouble getting SOLID and TRUSTWORTHY advice about genealogy technology? Need to purchase a new scanner, printer, or external hard drive? Do you need more information before you move to “The Cloud” or even a VPN? During this participatory session, you’ll be able to ask your genealogy tech questions . . . or just listen to questions from other users!
Session 4 – Tech Troubleshooting – What Would You Do?
Let’s face it. Dealing with technologies used for genealogy research is often a hassle, especially if you’re not a “digital native.” Learn the basics of tech troubleshooting, how to contact a tech vendor and get results, the best ways of finding tech help online, and how to create a “tech troubleshooting protocol” for future problems. We will also cover some of the most frequent tech problems and solve them collaboratively as a group.

Thomas MacEntee is a professional genealogist specializing in the use of technology and social media to improve genealogical research and as a means of interacting with others in the family history community.
