Abstract:
The Sleeper Collection was compiled by Richard David Sleeper over several decades. The research covers at least three generations of family histories of both his ancestors and those of his wife Martha Eloise McNutt. Files include correspondence, biographical sketches, an autobiography written by Dick’s father Richard Crampton Sleeper, family group sheets, and descendant charts. In addition, there are several scrapbooks and photo albums. The bulk of the photos are dated between the 1890s and the 1940s. Many are identified. There are also school photos, some with the names of the students.
Prominent surnames include Conway, Crampton, McNutt, Pennington, and Sleeper. The most common locations were California, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, and Nebraska.
