Abstract: The Miles Collection is a compilation of family history prepared by Jean (Hartman) Miles. The collection is a summary of her many years of research. Binders 1 and 2 include family histories of the Miles and Ayers families and some supporting documents. They follow the families from Pennsylvania and New York to Oregon. However, the collection is not meant to be a comprehensive list of descendants, nor does it list source citations. The binders were meant for family, and they share personal recollections and letters. A strength of this collection is the inclusion of many labeled photos. Prominent surnames include Ayers, Gates, Hartman, Miles, and Salzer. Accompanying the collection was the book A History of the Miles Family by Irvin Green Miles which is now available in the library of the Genealogical Forum of Oregon.
