What is the best day to visit the library?
The library is open from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday and from noon to 5:00 pm Sunday, and those are the easiest days to find parking. The best day to spend a long day at the library is Wednesday. We are open from 9:30am - 8:00pm. If you come in the morning, park in Zone G, then come into the library and pay $1 for a parking permit for Zone G. Put the permit on your car to allow parking for the rest of the day. At about 6pm, you can move your car and park it alongside the building (there's no parking there from 4-6 pm) so it will be close if you stay until 8pm. There is almost always space in the pay lot off 11th behind the building. It's limited to 2 hours and cannot be renewed to extend the time. The lot directly across 11th is an all-day pay to park lot and the cost is $7.
Where can I park?
Go to the Visit Us page for more parking information.
Are there any restaurants in the area?
Yes, several. there is a cafe on the first floor of the building, and also other delicious restaurant options just across the street. There are many more within a short driving distance.
Is there handicapped access to the library?
Yes, there is handicapped access to the building and to the library. There is also handicapped access to the restrooms.
Regarding parking, the lot behind the Ford building has one designated ADA spot. It has a two hour limit. Portland has specific rules addressing parking on the street.
